Day 1. Beijing
Arrival at Beijing International Airport.
 
Transfer to the hotel for check-in (usually available from 14:00 onwards) and free time to rest or explore the city center on your own

Today we will visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world, which has witnessed numerous important political and historical events. We will walk through the square and then visit the Forbidden City, the largest, most complete and ancient imperial palace. It was the residence of emperors from the early 15th century to 1911.

Afterwards, we will take a pleasant stroll through the distinctive gardens of the Summer Palace. Located about 12 km from the center of Beijing, it was designed exclusively for the Emperor and his family to enjoy.

In the morning, we will visit the Great Wall, specifically the Mutianyu section, with a cable car for both the ascent and descent. Additionally, for the more adventurous travelers, there is the option to go up by chairlift and come down on the incredible Great Wall toboggan. This activity is included in the trip; however, in case of rain, the authorities do not allow descending by toboggan for the safety of the travelers.
 
In the afternoon, on the way back, we will make a stop in the Olympic Stadium area (Bird’s Nest) to take some photos with the stadium as the backdrop.

Today we will travel to the Temple of Heaven, a magnificent place where the emperors of the Ming Dynasty offered sacrifices to pray for bountiful harvests. There, a respected Tai Chi master will meet us to give a simple introductory class on this millenary art.
 
In the afternoon, we will transfer to Xi’an by high-speed train. The distance between Beijing and Xi’an is 1,100 kilometers, and the journey takes approximately 4 hours. Xi’an is an ancient capital of China with a 3,000-year history and is the only walled capital in the country. It was the starting point of the famous “Silk Road”.

In the morning, we will visit the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (45 km, a 1-hour drive) and explore one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the world.
 
In the afternoon, we will head to the Muslim Quarter and visit the Great Mosque. Amidst the alleyways of the bazaar in this legendary neighborhood, you can bargain, shop, and try the typical Muslim-influenced local food, as it is lined with shops and street food stalls. You will also have the chance to experience the local way of life here.
 
Finally, we will return to our hotel to rest.

In the morning, we will head to the airport to take our flight to Guilin (approximately 2 and a half hours).
 
Upon our arrival in Guilin, we will visit the unique limestone formation shaped like a pachyderm, the “Elephant Trunk Hill”, and then we will head towards the mountains to embark on another new adventure in the Reed Flute Cave.
 
Subsequently, we will transfer to the hotel to check in and rest.

We will explore the stunning Longji Rice Terraces (90 km, a 1.5-hour drive). The rice terraces are mountain slopes that have been used for cultivation for centuries. Historically, four ethnic groups can be found in this area: the Zhuang, Yao, Miao, and Dong. The latter ethnic group builds wooden houses (sometimes using almost no nails), and the women wear traditional ethnic minority costumes. They like to wear hats and aprons decorated with various handmade ornaments.

Today we will explore the Li River by cruise. We will enjoy a scenic excursion in a corner of the world with unparalleled beauty. On the 3-star boat, you can head to the solarium or simply sit in the covered area and admire the beautiful karst landscapes through the windows.
 
In the afternoon, we will stroll along West Street in Yangshuo, one of the oldest streets with a history of more than 1,400 years, where you will find a large number of shops, restaurants and bars.
 
We will have free time to wander around the town center or the park, where you can soak up the local atmosphere and enjoy occasional music and dances from impromptu musicians and groups of amateur dancers, who liven up the corners of the park with their melodies and choreography.
 
Return to Guilin. Accommodation at our hotel in Guilin.

In the morning, transfer to the train station to take the high-speed train to Fenghuang, the beautiful Phoenix Town, in Hunan Province (approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes by high-speed train).
 
Upon arrival, we will visit the town and enjoy the scenery offered by the ancient houses and public buildings that make it one of the most beautiful towns in China.
 
These are some of the visits and activities included in the tour of this town, which will be confirmed based on availability and specific circumstances such as weather, facility improvement works, visits by other groups, etc.:

  • Ancient Yang Family Ancestral Hall

  • Palace of Eternal Longevity (a Taoist temple dedicated to longevity)

  • Former Residence of Chen Baozhen
  • Hongqiao Bridge (or Rainbow Bridge, named for its shape and symbolism)
 
After participating in some of these activities, transfer to the hotel to check in and rest.

In the morning, we will continue exploring Fenghuang Town, and then we will head to Zhangjiajie City. On the way, we will visit another very special ancient town with a beautiful waterfall: Furong. We will have time to stroll through its streets and experience local life firsthand.

Today we will visit the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, home to stunning karst landscapes, lush vegetation, and fresh air. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Glass Bridge. From here, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the magnificent Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon right beneath their feet. In the middle of the bridge, there is a skywalk platform renowned as the world’s highest. Dare you step out?
 
In the afternoon, our guide will accompany us to visit the AAAAA-level National Park, where the world’s tallest outdoor elevator, the “Bailong Elevator”, is located. We will take the Bailong Elevator up to the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, which served as the inspiration for the incredible landscapes in the famous movie Avatar. After exploring Yuanjiajie, we will take a shuttle bus to Tianzi Mountain and spend the rest of the afternoon there.
 
We will then take the cable car down and return to the hotel.

In the morning, we will visit Tianmen Mountain, the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie. We will take the cable car to the top (it takes about 40 minutes), which is the longest cable car line in all of Asia. You can enjoy a magnificent view through the cable car window. We will take a fascinating walk along the glass skywalk on the mountain, getting a feeling similar to walking among the clouds.
 
Later, we will transfer to the airport to fly to Shanghai (approximately a 2-hour flight).
 
Upon arrival in Shanghai, we will transfer to the hotel to check in and rest.

Yuyuan Garden is a classic Chinese garden in the city center, designed during the Ming Dynasty between 1559 and 1577. A government official named Pan Yunduan wanted his elderly parents, who were too old to travel to the capital, to see what a garden of this style looked like. That is why he named it Yuyuan Garden (Yu means health and tranquility).
 
In the same area as Yuyuan Garden, we can stroll through the Old Town, which is full of points of interest. It’s easy to get lost among the shops as you wind through the ancient alleys, some of which have names like “East Second Horse Road” when translated into Spanish.
 
Next, we will visit the Jade Buddha Temple, a Buddhist temple in the city. The original temple was built in 1882 and houses two jade statues of Buddha.
 
In the afternoon, we will head to the Bund. The Bund is a famous waterfront promenade that has been considered the symbol of Shanghai for a hundred years. It is an area of iconic buildings from the colonial era, located on the banks of the Huangpu River, directly opposite the Pudong district. From the Bund, the views of modern Shanghai—filled with skyscrapers tastefully illuminated—are breathtaking.
 
Transfer back to our hotel in Shanghai.

In the morning, we will travel to Zhujiajiao, a typical ancient water town in southern China crisscrossed by historic canals (30 km, a 40-minute drive). It is a picturesque and classic water town with a history of over 400 years, featuring a five-arch bridge spanning the Caogang River. Once an important hub for local trade and commodity transportation, Zhujiajiao offers the chance to wander through a labyrinth of paths, canals and bridges, or take a boat ride to see the well-preserved residences of this water town.
 
Return to Shanghai city.
 
In the afternoon, we will head to Tianzifang, a former French Concession area, for a pleasant stroll among boutiques, art galleries and cafés.
 
Subsequently, we will return to our hotel to rest.
